General Cleaning Rules-how to clean you ugg for good protect

Do your Ugg boots look dirty and worn out? Here are some simple methods for all fabrics of Uggs that will have them looking good as new in no time!
Step

General Cleaning Rules

  1. 1
Limit your Ugg use. This will prevent having to clean them as regularly. Any areas where they can be soaked, such as puddles and streams, should be avoided. Also avoid wearing Ugg boots anywhere that they might be scratched, such as hiking trails, as the leather is soft and will scratch easily and permanently.
  2. 2
Clean the boots by hand. It's often that the glues that secure soles, ornamentation, very thin leather parts or linings that may not be able to withstand soaking.
  3. 3
Test for color fastness. Use a dampened white cloth towel. If the color comes off easily, you should be aware that the entire article will "bleed" dye onto other areas of the item.
  4. 4
Dry away from heat. Ugg boots can be dried over a boot holder (hanging upside down) in a warm room and away from direct heat. Do not put your Ugg boots next to the fire or heater to dry. If you do not have a boot hanger, stuff them with paper towels, a rolled-up towel or newspaper to help them retain their shape. Leave to dry for at least 12 hours.
  5. 5
Brush into top shape again. Once dried, use a lint brush, nubuck brush, soft cloth or a suede brush and gently brush the natural line back into the boots. This will also pick up any fluff that may have dried on during the washing process.

Cleaning Suede Ugg Boots

  1. 1
Use a suede eraser. Gently go over the water marks and other stains that have built up on the boots.
  2. 2
Dip a soft cloth into cool water. Wring it out. Go over the suede and make sure you have uniformly maintained the moisture in the boot color.
  3. 3
Use specialty soap. Murphy's Oil soap works best on suede show. Take a pea-sized amount and apply it to the cloth. This can then be applied evenly over the boots.
  4. 4
Rinse your cloth and go over the boot's surface.
  5. 5
Pat the suede dry using paper towels. Make sure all of the excess water is absorbed.
  6. 6
Air dry your boots overnight. Do not put them directly under the sun or in a heated environment.
  7. 7
Go over your boots with a suede brush the following day.
  8. 8
Apply water and stain repellant. Use a dry cloth afterwards.

Cleaning Sheepskin Uggs

This method also applies if you are trying to clean a pair of knit uggs.
  1. 1
For minor instances of moisture absorption, talcum powder can help soak away water and prevent discolouration.
  2. 2
Every once in a while, more maintenance may be needed. Create a cleaning mixture. Add two parts hot water and one part white vinegar into a bowl. It is recommended however, to use approved shampoo cleaners to avoid preventable damage.
  3. 3
Soak a sponge with the mixture. Going from top to bottom, work the sponge in a circular motion over the boots.
  4. 4
Use a soft toothbrush. If there are areas which still have stains after using the water/vinegar mixture, add some to the toothbrush and go over those areas.
  5. 5
Rinse the boots using a sponge and distilled water. Pat the suede dry using paper towels.
  6. 6

Go over your boots with a suede brush the following day.
  8. 8
Apply water and stain repellant. Use a dry cloth afterwar
